A cooling economy and a crackdown on corruption has pushed consumers to demand small planes over luxury models. Companies are shifting away from the days of mahjong tables and karaoke areas and asking for simplicity and functionality above all. Aircraft manufacturers are responding by cutting costs and increasing aircraft delivery times. Until recently, Chinese buyers favored versions of the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737, but are now switching to smaller planes. This shift has caused second-hand planes to account for about 30% of the market share, up from 10% three years ago as manufacturers adapt their models to better suit new demand.
