The activity consists in restoring or renovating cultural monuments or their parts, which are works of fine art or handicraft products.
The Ministry of Culture shall grant the licence following submission of a written request. The applicant must be an individual (natural person).
Procedure for obtaining authorisation:
- Application for the licence to renovate cultural monuments
- Payment of the administrative fee amounting to CZK 500
1) Application for the licence to renovate cultural monuments
- The application shall be filed with the Ministry of Culture
- There is no prescribed form for the application

The application shall be supported with:
- a completed registration questionnaire(in Czech), available at the Ministry of Culture website
- certified copies of documents attesting to the applicant’s qualification. The qualification requirement for renovating and restoring cultural monuments is an accredited Master’s degree in fine art, specialising in renovation and restoration, or a Master’s degree in the relevant art field, complemented with a certificate attesting to the applicant’s completion of a course on restoration under a life-long learning programme, or an accredited Bachelor’s degree in the fine art, specialising in renovation and 2 years of professional experience;
- Documentation for at least 3 renovation projects which involved cultural monuments (where at least 1 of them must have been completed within the last two years) and which were performed within the specialised field of renovation for which the renovation licence is sought. Specialisations are categorised according to the classification of specialisations
The relevant authority shall grant the licence within 30 days, after which it shall call upon the applicant to pay the administrative fee
2) Payment of the administrative fee amounting to CZK 500
Payment of the administrative fee validates the licence to renovate cultural monuments
The business may be conducted after fulfilling all the above stated requirements.
