The Ministry of Industry and Trade presented its priorities for the development of the automotive industry to the Automotive Industry Association. Priorities include more support for research and development, developing human capital and also helping Czech companies expand abroad.
According to the Ministry, the automotive industry faces numerous challenges today and the Ministry is fully aware of the sector`s importance for the Czech economy. This is precisely why it has been working to introduce measures to ensure the industry`s successful future and help Czech companies successfully break into new markets.
For example, the Ministry of Industry and Trade launched a television campaign that aims to convince mainly primary school children and their parents that having a trade can also be a road to success. The campaign is a part of the Ministry`s broader efforts to support technical education and harmonise the courses that schools offer with demand on the labour market.
The automotive industry currently employs some 120,000 people in the Czech Republic. Approximately 1,100,000 new cars are manufactured every year at five Czech car manufacturers. Products manufactured by the automotive industry constitute one-fifth of the Czech Republic`s entire exports and the sector makes up fifteen per cent of the total industrial output.
