Accredited provider of certification services - authorisation step by step 

An accredited provider of certification services is an individual (natural entity) or legal entity or a state organisational unit which issues certificates and maintains a register of the same and/or provides other services associated with electronic signatures and to whom accreditation has been granted pursuant to Act No. 227/2000 Coll. on electronic signatures.

Persons wanting to pursue the profession of an accredited provider of certification services must apply for the accreditation with the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic.

Accreditation procedure:

Application for accreditation

  1. documentary proof in support of authorisation to carry out a commercial activity (such as a trade licence, extract from the Commercial Register, etc.);
  2. details of the qualified certification services the applicant intends to provide;
  3. material, personal and organisational preconditions – so-called security documentation whose content is specified under Article 4 et seq., Act. No. 378/2006 Coll. on action to be taken by qualified providers of certification services (reference);
  4. evidence for the use of a security system pursuant to CWA 14167-1, ČSN ETSI TS 101 456 and ČSN ETSI TS 102 023 standards;
  5. document on security management for trustworthy systems under the ČSN ISO/IEC 17799 standard;
  6. documentary proof in support of the implementation and application of an information security management system pursuant to the ČSN BS 7799-2 standard;
  7. document attesting to sufficient financial resources and financial security;
  8. qualified system certificate to be certified, and a
  9. document attesting to the payment of the administrative fee amounting to CZK 100,000.

Essential information on the application and license proceedings

With regard to the demanding nature of the accreditation process, applicants are advised to consult staff in charge of proceedings at MVČR (tel. +420974817518).

The authority shall complete the authorisation within 30 days

The business may be conducted after fulfilling all the above stated requirements.
