Conditions for granting a licence

The permission for a veterinary technician to conduct certain professional veterinary acts on a commercial basis is based on the decision of the regional veterinary administration on registering private veterinary technicians. The regional veterinary administration makes its decision on registration if the applicant:

  1. has a complete secondary vocational education or higher professional education in the veterinary field
  2. has legal capacity
  3. has a clean record. In this case a person has a clean record if he has not been convicted in the last 10 years of an intentional criminal offence or in the last 5 years of a criminal offence committed out of negligence in connection with professional veterinary activities

Application requirements

The requirements for the application are:

  1. name, perhaps name, last name, place of permanent residence, domicile or residence, and date of birth of the applicant
  2. type, scope and anticipated place of business

The application shall be accompanied by proof of professional qualification, i.e. proof of a complete secondary vocational education or higher professional education in the veterinary field; an extract from Criminal Records that must not be older than 6 months, or equivalent documents issued by the country of which he is a citizen, and by countries in which he lived continuously for more than 3 months during the last 3 years, which must not be older than 6 months, and basic information about where and under what conditions he will perform his trade.
