Jordanian-Czech business forum on Geology

Amman, February 10.02.2020 – The Jordanian-Czech Business Forum activities on investment in transformational energy sources was lunched under the auspices of the Czech Embassy in Amman in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Jordan and Amman Chamber of Commerce and the Jordan European Business Association.
The forum, which includes Czech officials, businessmen and companies specialized in geology and mining, will continue until the twelfth of this month.
The director of planning and institutional development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Eng. Shorouk Abdel-Ghani stated: The forum aims to enhance bilateral relations between Jordan and the Czech Republic, especially in the field of mineral wealth, and to present investment opportunities in both countries.
She added that during the forum’s activities, the rare elements in Jordan would be highlighted through the visits of Czech companies to a number of Jordanian companies, to get acquainted with the fields of joint work and attract investments.
She also pointed out that the Ministry undertakes the formulation of investment policies in the field of mineral wealth through its promotion, especially the undiscovered ones, with a view to extracting them and benefiting from them in manufacturing and exporting, as the mining sector’s contribution to GDP is about 8 percent.
The President of Jerash Chamber of Commerce and the representative of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce at the forum, Muhammad Ali Al-Atoum, pointed out that Jordan has many advantages, the most important of which are democracy, investor protection and a strategic geographical location, which makes it an environment conducive to investment.
The Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Jordan, H.E. Mr.Josef Koutsky, said: The Czech exports to Jordan increased in 2019 to about 105 million dollars, while the value of Jordanian exports to the Czech Republic amounted to about 3 million dollars.
He added that this increase has increased since 2016 as a result of the support provided by the Jordanian government and the private sector with a view to broadening the horizons of joint economic cooperation.
The president of the Jordanian European Business Association (JEBA) Jamal Badran presented the association’s role in coordination between businessmen in both countries.
