Main information about the service

If you wish to become an expert adviser on genetically modified organisms, you need to have appropriate education in at least one of these fields:

  • medicine;
  • veterinary medicine;
  • biochemistry for the use of genetically modified organisms;
  • microbiology for the use of genetically modified organisms;
  • natural sciences for the use of genetically modified plants or animals;
  • agriculture for the use of genetically modified plants or animals;
  • forestry for the use of genetically modified plants;

and at least 5 years’ experience in the field, of which at least 2 years’ work with genetically modified organisms.

You must not have a criminal record for:

  • a negligent criminal offence linked to the use of genetically modified organisms;
  • an intentional criminal act.

Service benefit

As an expert adviser:

  • you can carry out risk assessments;
  • you can comment on:
    • notifications of contained use in category 1 and 2;
    • applications for a permit for:
      • contained use in risk category 3 and 4;
      • release into the environment;
      • the clinical trial of a medicinal product;
    • applications for entry in the List for placing on the market;
    • emergency plans;
  • you are responsible for expert checks of the use of genetically modified organisms.

Use the service at the same time as the submission of:

  • notification of contained use in category 1 and 2;
  • an application for a permit for contained use in category 3 and 4;
  • an application for a permit to release into the environment;
  • an application for the clinical trial of a medicinal product;
  • an application for entry in the List for placing on the market.

How to get the service

What do you need when solving the service electronically

There is no need to submit a separate application in order to become an expert adviser, as this application is part of the notification or application for the use of genetically modified organisms or gene products, where you fill in your details and attach:

  • a copy of your university diploma;
  • proof of experience;
  • details that can be used to obtain an extract from the Register of Criminal Records, i.e. your:
    • surname at birth;
    • personal identification number;
    • sex;
    • country of birth;
    • district of birth;
    • municipality of birth.

Where and how to solve the service electronically

  • in an email with a recognised electronic signature sent to gmo@mzp.cz;
  • via data box IDS 9gsaax4.
